Placement Test in Math (Technion Math exam)

• Knowledge of Hebrew
• Knowledge of English
• For most tracks: a Israeli high school diploma or recognized foreign matriculation that includes 5 units of Mathematics, 4 units or 5 units of English, and an additional Scientific/Technological subject, from the following list, all three with a score of 80 or higher.
• For Biology, Chemistry, and dual majors in Biology and Chemistry: a matriculation certificate that includes 4 or 5 units of Mathematics, 4 or 5 units of English, and an additional Scientific/Technological subject, from the following list, totaling 5 units, all three with a score of 80 or higher.

Registration for the Mathematics Classification Exam is done through the Undergraduate Studies website. You can view exam dates, request accommodations before the test, preparation and refresher courses for the placement test, registration and cancellation.

1. Campus-IL - The course includes short video lectures (clips), interactive practice, a forum for mathematical questions, and more. The course is open for free use on the course website. In addition, it is recommended to solve the past exams published on the site on your own. That is, open the exams without a solution, write a full solution on your own, and only then compare.
2. Math Placement test Preparation Course from the Technion Pre-academic School (Mechina) - The course for the Math classification exam with In-person guidance by the Technion Mechina staff. Any candidate interested in studying in the preparation course can register on the Technion Mechina website. All updates and details will appear on the website. The preparation course will take place in pre-academic (Mechina) building and will also be delivered via Zoom. The course is offered for a fee.    

The score will be valid only for the enrollment period in which you registered. You may take the mathematics placement exam multiple times on the dates relevant to admission for that enrollment period. The Technion will consider the highest score from the exams valid.

The exams will be held in Technion classrooms and not online. If it is not possible to hold the exams in person, this admission option will be canceled.

The acceptance formula

A Sekem score will be calculated with matriculation scores and a score on the mathematics classification exam in the Sekem calculation

The admission formula in this track is based on an optimal average of the matriculation scores and the Mathematics classification exam score.

The score on the Mathematics classification exam will be converted to a score on the psychometric score scale, and it will be entered into the Sekem calculation formula in place of the Psychometric score.

The conversion formula for the Math classification exam score

(Math classification exam score * 2.434 + 526.915) = converted Psychometric score.

The result will be rounded to the nearest whole number.

Technion pre-academic school (Mechina) graduates will be able to be admitted based on pre-academic school grades and the Mathematics placement test score, according to the conditions set out on this page: A score of at least 80 in Mathematics, Physics, and English in the Mechina.
