The Entrance Test for Architecture

All candidates for the Architecture track have to take the entrance test for Architecture (except those with an academic background in Architecture). The result of the test is included in the calculation of the Sekem (the calculation of the entrance grade).

Only those who have registered to Architecture in one of their priorities, can take the entrance test. The test is given only in the Technion, in Hebrew.

This year there will be two entrance tests. Candidates can take only one of the tests. There are two dates for registration to Architecture. Registration will take place before each test.

Candidates have to register to the faculty before the date of the test that they want to take. After registering, they will receive a summons for the entrance test for the near date. Candidates who will not be able to take the test they have registered for, will be invited to the test on the next date.

The tests for both dates will be met with a uniform level of difficulty.

The exam's grade is valid only for the same year of registration.

Results

After checking the exams scheduled for the first examination date, about 30 outstanding candidates are going to be accepted to the faculty. These outstanding candidates will receive an "Acceptance Letter".

All grades will be published on the candidate’s digital personal area, in about four weeks after the test has taken place.

Candidates who are not eligible to be accepted to the track will receive a Rejection Letter.

All other candidates will be put on a waiting list.

After checking the second deadline tests, all candidates (including candidates on the waiting list) will receive final answers regarding their acceptance.

Final answers will be sent to everyone up to four weeks from the date of the second test.

Minimal Grades

Tests that will be upgraded in the bottom third of the grade scale will not meet the required admission threshold, and will receive the failed grade.

Exemption From the Test

Those with an academic background in Architecture recognized by the Technion (at least two semesters) will be exempt from the test in terms of entry. If their academic record is taken in consideration, they will be invited to an interview in which they will be asked to present their work.

Test Structure

The test is intended to test creativity, observational ability and analysis, visual memory, spatial orientation and expressiveness in formidable content. No prior knowledge of drawing is required.

The test is in a honor/home test format in a digital submission format. Examinees have to solve the test independently.

All products will be made by the examinees themselves. It is not allowed to get help from other people. It is possible to browse sources of information (also on the Internet), but copying is strictly prohibited. A test that does not meet the requirements will be disqualified.

The test will be sent to the email address of all candidates on the day of the test at 9:00 A.M.

By 5:00 P.M. all examinees have to submit a presentation that includes all the answer sheets to the test questions.

Parts of the Test

The test has two parts. The first part will be done in sketching and drawings in three-dimensional expression, accompanied by verbal clarifications.

In this section candidates can use drawing and sketching tools: soft pencils, an eraser, colored ink pencils (marker or lord), colored oil pencils, pastel pencils, rulers, dials and other accessories.

It is not recommended to use watercolors or oil colors because the products should be scanned/photographed and attached to the answer presentation. The test will be performed on sheets of white printer paper.

The second part will be done by building a three-dimensional model from white printer paper. Candidates can also use thick paper and/or cardboard, scissors, liquid glue and paper glue.

How to Prepare for the Test

The test examines abilities that have crystallized in you over the years through life experiences and accumulated experience. There is no need for any preparation for the test other than relaxation and ease. Come sharp and demonstrate talent.

An Appeal for the Correction of the Grade

Candidates can appeal for the correction of their grade only by sending an "appeal email" to the Undergraduate Admission and Evaluation Section.

The grade can be appealed no later than two weeks from the moment the grades are published on the Internet. The checking of the appeal involves a fee of 225 NIS.

Pay attention!
The grade may decrease following the appeal.
